Me with Defiant Goddess and Sonata in the blocking stage.

Step one is to block out the shape of the sculpture.  This requires removing large pieces of stone with cutting tools, hammer and chisel.

Next comes the Shaping stage when grinders are used to shape the stone and add details.

The final stage is smoothing where the stone is sanded with diamond sanding pads until about 1500 grit smoothness.
